to
COMMEMORATE THE 131ST ANNIVERSARY OF THE GAZETTAL
of the
FIRST BELLINGEN COURT HOUSE ON THE 27TH NOVEMBER 1869


The first Bellingen Court House was erected on the present CWA site, which
overlooked Boat Harbour (the original name given to Bellingen) and was the birth
of the village of Bellingen. The building was designed by Colonial Architect,
James Barnett, and constructed by local builder George Moore. The local
Register of births, deaths and marriages was incorporated in February 1872

The present Court House was Gazetted on the 2nd September 1910, and was designed by the first Government Architect, Walter Liberty Vernon and also built by George Moore.
